Asessippi Ski Resort Wedding in Manitoba

I can’t say enough how much I love shooting in Asessippi.  I love getting outside of the city to shoot weddings.  The noise pollution is gone and the stars seem so bright.  I love getting to lose the city’s ambient buzz and witness a wedding where the only sounds outside of the couple saying their vows are the birds chirping, the streams trickling and the leaves rustling from the wind.  It’s also nice to leave the flatness and get on some hills.  Assessippi truly is a Manitoba gem!

A big shout out and thanks to Daniel and Katrina for bringing me, and my wife, out there and having us document their special day.

Day after wedding photos in Puerto Vallarta

One of my favourite cities I have ever visited happens to be Puerto Vallarta.

I think it is stunning, and the people that inhabit it are fantastic.  It makes for a great place to do a “Trash the Dress” shoot.  Between the beach, the eclectic street vendors, and Malecon lit up at night, this shoot did not disappoint.

We ended it off by jumping in the pool at the hotel, getting kicked out, not because of the “after hours rules” but because we were swimming in a vat of chemicals that had just been dumped in.  Thankfully none of us ended up with our skin melting off.

Vanessa & Patrick's Destination Wedding by Tony

When Patrick, Vanessa and I originally started discussions about their wedding, we envisioned a very snowy and cold wedding day.

Their plans for a winter wedding here in Winnipeg sounded wonderful.  However, some time into their planning phase they realized that although they were planning a beautiful wedding, it wasn’t THEIR wedding.  After what I assume was some difficult decision making they switched gears and decided on an elopement on a beach in Big Sur, California.

My mind very quickly started seeing a warm sun shining down on a beach wedding.  But my mental picture of what their wedding would be like was still far from reality.  Vanessa and Patrick were hit with wind warnings, rainfall advisories and flash flood watches.  It was the perfect storm……and yet it was the perfect wedding.

The wind provided epic vistas of choppy ocean as a backdrop for photos.  The umbrellas that had been bent and twisted from the weather ensured people were laughing and soaked to the bone.  And when the time felt right, we all parked on the side of the road and started walking into the redwoods.  The rain started to slow, and when Patrick and Vanessa felt like they had found a suitable spot, people huddled around each other, and a super intimate wedding ceremony took place as the day turned to night.

Beth & James got married in the beautiful little Hecla Village. It has a lot of meaning to James and his family and it just seemed like the perfect place to start their journey as Mr. & Mrs Debrecen.

The wedding ceremony was so special; Bethany’s dad had the honour of marrying them and even I had a couple of tears to wipe away during the ceremony.

When I did their engagement session earlier this year we witnessed a beautiful double rainbow at the start of their Engagement Session and what a better way to end this day with yet another rainbow on the horizon.

Thank you guys so much for inviting me into your lives and having me be a part of your Wedding day.

I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a wedding that so perfectly embodied a couple’s love for each another. Honest, true and genuine are just some of the words that come to mind.

Shandi and Josh, your day was magic. Thank-you for your trust and to your wonderful families and friends for making us feel so welcome. It was truly an honour to capture the love and spirit of your day.
