This past summer, my family and I embarked on a vacation to the eastern edge of Canada. Not only would this be one of the last trips before my wife gave birth to our second child, on November 12, it also happened to be a new beginning for my sister, and her now husband, as they said their vows in picturesque Prince Edward Island. If this is a part of Canada that you haven’t visited yet, I would strongly recommend checking it out. The gorgeous countryside and friendly communities can’t be matched.
After a beautiful ceremony on a deck, overlooking the pier, the wedding party and I packed up for a photoshoot on a beach on the other side of Prince Edward Island. Although the weather was inclement by most people’s definition, the grey skies and blustery weather ensured a strikingly dramatic photoshoot setting on a popular beach with nobody else in miles. The rolling sand dunes, sparse grasses, and a lonely lighthouse provided us with a location I could have spent much more time at, if given the chance. The wind, rain and cold were no match for the spirit of the group. I actually had to shorten my shutter speed so the pictures wouldn’t blur from the shake of my robust belly laughter. Amongst these moments of laughter and shivering, there were a few brief moments of enchantment and emotion that defined what that day and location meant for these two.
This picture feels like it was ripped straight out of a pastel fantasy, yet every time I look at it, I am immediately transported back to one of the most amazing weddings I have ever witnessed. This moment captured is one of my favourites from the 2014 wedding season. I’m so happy I have this moment to hold on to.
